Our Imam

Shaykh Aamir Azhar Zaidi was born and raised in Toronto. At the tender age of 16, he was privileged with the opportunity to perform Hajj for the first time – which transformed his life, kindling a deep love for learning and living Islam.

Shaykh Aamir initially pursued his post-secondary studies at the University of Toronto, re-routing in 2010 to live and study at the Islamic University of Madinah after being granted a full scholarship. In 2013, he completed a diploma in Arabic, based on the famous curriculum by Dr. V. AbdurRahim (حفظه الله تعالى).

In January 2019, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the Faculty of Arabic Language.

In March 2019, he successfully completed a post-graduate chaplaincy certification program through the department of academics in the Prophet’s Mosque (ﷺ).

During his years in the blessed city of Madinah, Shaykh Aamir spent extensive periods of time studying Islamic Jurisprudence, Tafseer, Seerah, Hadeeth, and other disciplines under the tutelage of various scholars.

Upon returning to Canada, Shaykh Aamir completed his memorization of the Holy Qur’an at Masjid-Ut-Taqwa under the guidance of Maulana Zakariya Patel (حفظه الله تعالى). He has since been quietly involved within the community, delivering Friday sermons, teaching private classes, and locally leading the congregational prayers. He has also been dedicating his time to serve as an instructor for the part-time ‘Alimiyyah program at the Islamic Center of Oshawa.
